Painting the Heart of Pennsylvania

My friend and I have been going around painting landscapes outside.  For us these areas are unexplored and unmapped.  We drive along, looking for something that catches us, makes us pull over, and set up our easels.  We drift up and down mountains, through rocky passes and fertile valleys.  The heart of Pennsylvania is filled with life and agriculture.  Trees, animals, and crop flourish here.  I can’t help but think of Miazaki’s Narsica Valley of the Wind when driving through central PA.  This area is literally all valleys.  Like ripples in a pool of giant earth each ridge of tree and rock is followed by a valley of fields and pastures.  We talked to Amish farmers and painted in peace.
